When: July 7 from 11am to 6pm
Where: Cherry Park, corner of Strange Street and Waverly Road
About: The Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association is hosting the fifth annual Cherry Festival on Saturday July 7th from 11 am to 6 pm in Cherry Park. The festival has grown from a small gathering at the entrance to the park five years ago to an event that draws thousands of people into the park.
This year’s stage will feature Eric Traplin, Cazu Latin Band, The Urban Monks and a local Steel Band. The kids’ area will be graced with 4 large inflatables and a Cherry train that will circulate through the park.
Pollillo the clown will be back with free balloon sculptures and face painting. He will also give an entertaining onstage performance. We have more kids games and activities than in previous years.
The prizes are also a big draw. We will be holding a silent auction with items donated by local businesses. The feature item at the auction table will be the Cherry Chair. The chair is painted by local artist, Peter Ferry.
The All Things Cherry area will include delicious cherry pies, tarts and cherry squares made by the Hillcrest bakery in Floradale, cherry strudel sticks, cherry jam, ice cream, candy floss, snow cones and fresh cherries.
